Penn Lake Park Borough Trash Services

Penn Lake Park Borough Waste & Recycling Information

Welcome to Prestige Disposal, your new waste and recycling partner! We’re committed to providing efficient and reliable service to Penn Lake Park residents. This page outlines everything you need to know about your collection services.

Collection Schedule:

Collection for both trash and recycling occurs every Monday. To ensure efficient and timely service, residents are kindly requested to place their designated containers at the curb no later than 7:00 AM on Monday morning. While our collection routes generally run between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, unforeseen circumstances may occasionally impact collection times. Having your items curbside early ensures they are not missed.

Trash Collection (Green Container):

Container: Each residence is provided with a designated green container by Prestige Disposal for the collection of household trash. These containers are designed for compatibility with our automated side-load collection trucks, ensuring a safe and efficient process for our team.

Bagging: To maintain cleanliness and prevent issues with the automated collection system, all trash must be securely bagged before being placed inside the green container. Using sturdy bags will help prevent spills and keep your container in good condition.

Placement: Containers should be placed in front of your residence, at the curb or edge of your driveway, ensuring easy access for our automated trucks. Please avoid placing containers behind parked cars, near mailboxes, or in other locations that may obstruct access.

    Recycling Collection (Blue Container):

Container: A designated blue container is provided by Prestige Disposal for the collection of recyclable materials. Similar to the trash containers, these are designed for our automated collection system.

Bagging: Do NOT bag recycling. All recyclable materials should be placed loose and unbagged directly into the blue recycling container. Bagging recyclables can hinder the sorting process at recycling facilities.

Placement: Recycling containers should be placed next to your trash container at the curb or edge of your driveway, ensuring easy access for our automated trucks.

Accepted Items (Single-Stream): Penn Lake Park utilizes single-stream recycling, making it easy for residents to participate. This means all accepted recyclable materials can be placed together in the blue container. Accepted items include:

    • Metal: Tin and aluminum cans (please rinse and empty), empty paint cans (please ensure they are completely empty and dry).
    • Glass: Jars and bottles (please remove lids and rinse).
    • Cardboard: Empty, flattened, and loose cardboard boxes and other cardboard packaging.
    • Cartons: Milk cartons, juice boxes, soup cartons, flavored drink cartons, and aseptic cartons (please rinse and empty).
    • Mixed Paper: Newspaper, magazines, mail (both junk mail and personal mail), phone books, food boxes (please remove any plastic liners), computer paper, flyers, wrapping paper (please no foil or plastic wrap), soda and beer cartons (please no food-soiled paper).
    • Plastic Containers: Recycle #1 through #7 plastics ONLY (mostly beverage and detergent containers). Please look for the recycling number on the bottom of the container to ensure it is accepted.

    Bulk Item Collection

Pickup Day: Bulk item collection is scheduled for the first Monday of each month.

Placement: Bulk items should be placed at the curb or edge of your driveway, in front of your residence, ensuring easy access for our specialized collection trucks.

Requirements: Items must be able to be safely lifted by one person and/or our automated truck claw. This is to protect our team and prevent damage to our equipment.

Prohibited Items: For safety and environmental reasons, we cannot accept certain items for bulk pickup, including construction debris, boats, oil, electronics, batteries, scrap metal, concrete, hazardous materials, tires, and appliances containing refrigerants. These items require specialized disposal methods.

    FAQ’S

I forgot to put my trash out, what do I do?

Contact our office ASAP. If we still have a truck in the area, we can most likely swing back and pick up the trash. Otherwise, just let our office know and we will make a note to take extra trash from you on the next collection day

The old garbage company took anything I put in the recycling bin! Why are you picky about recycling?

Unfortunately, the requirements for recycling quality are getting higher and higher. Because of this, very little contamination (trash) can be allowed in recyclable loads. Many other recycling hauling companies actually take their loads of recycling straight to the landfill due to this contamination, which is why they stopped caring about contaminated recycling. We actually do recycle, and the recycling facility we use has very strict guidelines on what is and is not acceptable. Help us recycle better!

    My trash/recycling can is missing

Please contact the office and we will do an investigation and replace your missing container

I want to change sizes of my garbage/recycle cans

We are happy to help! Please contact the office, and we will put you on our list for the next round of container swaps. We will notify you when we will be doing the swaps (typically every 3-6 months) so you can have your container outside on the swap day

What time is trash and recycling pickup?

Trash pickup for Penn Lake Park Borough is on Mondays. Trash and recycling can be picked up between 7am and 5pm, and the times will vary depending on many factors. Please always put your bins out before 7am to ensure it is collected.
